What To Ask Before Hiring Restoration Technicians
If you're reading this blog, you might be having some bad luck with fire damage, water damage, mold or something similar in your home. These certainly aren't easy fixes that not just anyone is qualified to do, so it's important that you do your homework when looking for experienced professionals.
When calling around, be sure to ask these questions before the work gets started:
How long have you been in business? You need to know the history of the technician or company before they start. You're going to want someone with experience who is well-versed in their field.
Have you worked on similar projects in the past? If you have water damage, you wouldn't want someone to fix the problem that has never worked with water damage in the past. Make sure they have the experience and knowledge needed to fix the damage.
Do you have any before and after photos of past jobs? Asking to see some actual pictures of their previous work is a god way to find the right technician for you.
What do you charge? Most will charge similar amounts across the board, it's always good to price-compare. A small price differential could be the difference in deciding between two similarly experienced technicians.
What certifications do you have? A technician with an array of certifications will be a better option than one who doesn't.
What tools and equipment will you be using? It is your home after all, so knowing what the process will look like is important.
What times are you available? If you prefer to be home when the technician will be working on your home, make sure their schedule allows for that.
When will you be able to start? If the damage is to the point where it needs to be dealt with right away, you need to make sure the technician is able to start as soon as possible.
When will the restoration be finished? Do you need the job done by a certain date? Make sure they give you reasonable estimates for completion.
Do you have any guarantees or warranties? Home restoration can be tricky so it stand to reason that you have a few safety nets in case something goes wrong.
Can you refer anyone to call for other problems in my home? If you liked the technicians work, it's likely you'll like their referral's work as well.
