Prepping Your Home For The Holidays

You can't start decorating your home for Christmas if it's not organized. You need to figure out where to set up the tree and where to put all of the other small decorations.

Here are 3 ways to prep the spaces in your home for gatherings and decoration set up.

1: Clean out the Clutter: Before you start decking the halls, set aside a day or two to de-clutter your home. Check rooms, shelves, and surfaces and either donate unwanted items, display certain items, or put things away that don't need to be out.

2: Keep an Orderly Kitchen: Christmastime usually involves a lot of cooking and baking, and an organized kitchen helps keep things running smoothly. Make sure that essential kitchen tools such as utensils and cookware are thoroughly clean and within easy reach.

Check that the oven, stove, microwave, and dishwasher are all in good working condition, and repair or replace any faulty appliance before you need to use it and before businesses are closed for the holidays.

Take time to also scan your fridges and freezers for any old or expired foods that can be tossed to free up space for all of the meal prep and freezer-friendly treats that need a temporary home.

3: Set up the Celebration Space: Whether it's the living room, dining room, or den, every home has a designated space where most of the holiday festivities take place. Assess you area and find the perfect spot for your Christmas tree. Don't hesitate to rearrange, replace, or remove furniture to give your seasonal centerpiece the space it deserves. The mantel is often a gathering point for you holiday parties, take the time to ensure your fireplace has been properly cleared of ash and soot. While a warm flow from a fire is great for the Yuletide season, it can often be a chore to monitor the fire constantly. Consider setting up a fireplace screen for added safety and an extra touch of style.

There you go! If you follow along with this, you'll have the smoothest Christmas season, clutter free and relaxing!
